    B13A 2007 Saussignac, Château Miaudoux (50cl) +

Sémillon, muscadelle (organic). As well as producing red, white and dessert wines on twenty-five hectares of clay and limestone, Nathalie and Gérard Cuisset grow plums to become pruneaux d’Agen — all of which have been certified organic since 2003. Their luscious, honeyed Saussignac comes from a three acre plot of sémillon and muscadelle, with ripe botrytis fruit picked in successive tries.

On the 2008 vintage: “It has a classic nose, all flooded with apricot and honey, a suggestion of leaf tea and barley sugar. On the palate it is sweet but not cloying, the medium to full texture is rich and mouth-coating, but there is masses of acidity and a warming, gently toasty character adding layers to the integral sweetness of the fruit. Beautifully balanced and with excellent length, it is a terrific Sauternes alternative.” — Tom Cannavan, wine-pages.com (June 2014)

    A67 1991 Egerton Ruby, Peter Dennis +

100% shiraz. Shiraz grapes grown on the Dennis family vineyards at McLaren Flat are essentially dry grown, before picking at maximum ripeness; the free run juice is fortified with selected spirit, then the pressings returned to the wine. This has the rich fruit and liquorice depth of a fortified ruby, but also the caramel smoothness of a tawny wine — something quite rare and highly recommended. 18% ABV

    R45 2015 Rasteau vin doux naturel, Bressy-Masson (50cl) +

100% grenache. Must from a first pressing of grenache noire is fermented at low temperatures, then stabilised by the addition of grape brandy. This is not dissimilar in style to a young tawny port, with luscious red fruit and a honeyed length.
