    B27A 2006 Château Saint-Christophe, Saint-Emilion grand cru +

Merlot, cabernet franc. Based in Saint-Christophe des Bardes (two miles east of Saint-Emilion), the Richard family cultivate twenty-three acres of clay and limestone neighbouring parcels belonging to l’Arrosée and Fombrauges. 13% ABV

On the 2006 vintage: “Classic stuff, there’s a touch of mineral, iron-oxide bloodiness on the nose, a hint of leafiness and cedar, and then a lean core of bramble and blackcurrant fruit. On the palate it is very grown-up claret, with a tensioning grip of tannin and powerful acidity, the spices and the sinewy black fruit coming through on the mid-palate. The wine finishes on savoury fruit and spice, in delicious Bordeaux style.”

CH55B Louis Roederer Brut Premier +

40% pinot noir, 40% chardonnay, 20% pinot meunier. An excellent introduction to the celebrated Cristal, Louis Roederer’s ‘house’ champagne is almost Burgundian in its richness and complexity. 12% ABV

“Beautifully composed reduction across lemon citrus, white peach, cherries and deeper, more savoury notes of spice and grilled nuts; fresh and complex at once. The palate’s assertively flavored, yet runs on a smooth and fine textural thread. Acidity is paramount, redder fruits hold court here. Great balance and depth.” 92 points
    James Suckling (July 2015)

“The famous non-vintage from Louis Roederer has evolved and become just that little bit drier. This bottling emphasizes white fruits and crisp acidity as well as mineral texture. It is a complete wine, all the elements there. Another few months bottle age will make this wine even better, so wait until 2017.” 92 points
