Meerlust Red, Stellenbosch

Dark purple in the glass with a violet rim, aromas of spice and dark fruit, with hints of cassis and vanilla, with soft tannins. The Myburgh family purchased the Meerlust estate in 1756 and have been making wine there ever since. Five kilometres from False Bay, the estate’s proximity to the ocean plays a huge part in the success of their wines: the ocean breezes and evening mists keep vineyard temperatures regulated during hot summers, while drought-resistant clay and granite soils provide further natural assistance. 52% merlot, 33% cabernet sauvignon, 10% cabernet franc, 5% petit verdot.
